5 Reasons Not To Buy A Cheap Stationary Recumbent Bike
Not all cheap stationary recumbent bikes have the following faults, but it is definitely worthwhile to check this list out before buying.
The Come-Apart Problem
Pedaling a stationary bike involves quite a bit of power on the machine. If it was a real bike, the force applied would send you hurtling down the road.
Make sure that the bike is sturdy and won’t come apart, even when pedaling with force. Some bikes tend to come apart slowly over time.
Most bikes you buy will have a guarantee against this, so make sure before you buy.
Poor construction leads to a self-destructive machine. Watch for welding cracks and joints that tend to loosen when using.
Sure you can do maintenance, and try to keep everything tight, but in many cases, this is like fighting a losing battle.
Not Comfortable
If a stationary recumbent bike isn’t comfortable to sit on for any length of time, you are not going to use it. The seat should be comfortable to sit on and preferably have padding, especially if you suffer from back or posture problems.
Not Sturdy Enough
When cycling fast, the bike should be both still and stable while you pedal.
There is nothing worse than a bike that rocks from side to side the faster you go, as it feels unstable, and you will be afraid to push yourself.
Noisy
A noisy bike is also another irritation you don’t need, especially if you are cycling while watching TV or listening to your music. Believe me, noise can get grating after a while and can cause you not to want to ride your bike.
No Computer
Now to me, this is a big one. Having a computer on your bike makes your exercise session so much more enjoyable, as you can set yourself goals, try different types of levels, and even in some cases play games while you exercise.
The reason that most recumbent stationary bikes are sitting in homes and not being used is that they are boring to use, and there is no motivation to do the work.
Having a computer on the bike makes exercising so much more fun all round.
