  1. Thanks for this informative post.  A couple of friends of mine bought a pair and use them to go cruising through the quieter parts of the island where we live.  They look really cool and I am pleased to learn a bit more about them and the benefits for using them.

I like watching my friends riding the things because the bikes make the riders look like they are just out for a stroll or something rather than all set to conquer a mountain or zoom past all the rest of the riders.  I liked the feeling of it when I tried one out.  Very lah-di-dah.

I wasn’t aware that there were exercise machines that were recumbent bikes too.

    1. Funnily enough the exercise versions of recumbent bikes are more popular than the road version. I personally would be afraid to ride in the road with a recumbent as I would be afraid the cars wouldn’t see me, but I agree with you that they do look like a lot of fun.

  2. These recumbent bikes look really comfortable to use!

I personally don’t prefer sit-down exercise equipment, but for many people this is the only form of exercise that is possible, when certain health needs are present. My wife has had some soccer injuries and these may be perfect for her.

Do you know of some good gyms that have these available with a membership?

    1. I am not sure on the area that you live in, but all the gyms that I have been to have at least one recumbent bike, as they have to cater for all their customers needs.

Recumbent Bikes are perfect for people with injuries and other physical limitations.

  3. I checked prices and was surprised how friendly they are. Maybe it is time to replace mine.

I have another question. I have a Hammer Crosstech XTR Programmable Cross Trainer. It starts to creak more and more. I’ve tried to lubricate it in many ways, but sooner or later it starts to annoy again. Everything other is working just fine.

    Can you advise me something?

    Thanks in advance.

    1. If Q10 doesn’t work, I would try taking it to a bike repair shop or asking their assistance with the problem as I am sure they would know what to do. Maybe you won’t need to replace yours afterall.

  4. You mention some great options out there. Most of the time, I would say that it is best to go to the gym instead of buying this stuff for at home. But I know that some people just can’t get to the gym or they don’t need a full gym membership and only need to be using a bike.

So I think this can be very useful if you don’t or can’t go outside and have to work on your body.

    1. A recumbent bike is a great option for those who don’t belong to a gym or for rainy days.  People with disabilities will also benefit greatly.

Still if you are fit and healthy get outdoors too. Nothing as invigorating  as  a good walk.

  5. Ever since my severe back injury several years ago, I have been sidelined from running and biking.  I have found that using a recumbent bike works well because of the lower back stabilization.  Your comprehensive review of the different types of recumbent bikes shows just how many options there are for people like me.

Thank you for your very helpful website.  I know there are others out there just like me who really need this information!   Clay

  6. I definitely know exactly what you are talking about when it comes to the comfortable seat on the recumbent bike. I have never come across one in where the seat was not comfortable.

The second bike recommendation looks really nice and has a lot of features. Amazing how far recumbent bikes have come over the years. I can see it even has a place for your mp3 player and speakers. It is also looks pretty easy to store and move.

Do you know what type of warranty the Nautilus R614 Recumbent Bike has?

Appreciate the information and going to read the Bike Gear Worthy Of The Tour De France article now.

    1. Thanks for stopping by Jay. I don’t have this particular recumbent bike, but when you purchase it you click on a link to request your warranty.  I know the one I purchased had a five year warranty.

      Hope this helps.
